Michigan State University (MSU) has a long history of partnering with Chinese higher education, research, and other institutions. MSU is very intentional when it comes to forming international partnerships as the most productive collaborations come from partners with shared values and compatible academic disciplines. The International Studies and Programs' database includes all of our active institutional partners in China.
MSU is very proud of our strategic alliance with Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU) and the Communication University of China (CUC).
Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU)
Through the Asia Hub platform, multiple MSU colleges such as College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR), College of Engineering, College of Social Science (CSS), and College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM) are working with Nanjing Agricultural University and many others across Asia on joint research and education initiatives. A joint institute between MSU and NAU was approved by the Ministry of Education in China in 2019, and four dual degree programs are offered at the graduate level in the areas of food science and biosystems engineering. We celebrated the first cohort of master's graduates in May 2024.
Communication University of China (CUC)
Following a long history of research collaborations in the area of journalism, advertising, and communication and media, MSU College of Communication Arts and Sciences (CAS) and China University of Communication (CUC) set up a dual Master's degree program in Digital Advertising, leveraging the academic resources in both institutions. The program will enroll its first cohort of graduate students in fall 2025 in CUC Hainan campus. The program will enable Chinese students to learn from talented faculty in the field from both CUC and MSU and spend one year in MSU collaborating with diverse CAS students. MSU faculty is getting excited about this collaborative program.
