Asian Hub of Geography Science and Education in Beijing

On April 16, 2018, Michigan State University (MSU) and the Capital Normal University (CNU) held a meeting on cooperation and exchanges between the two universities. Professor Qi Jiaguo, Director of the Office of China Programs (OCP) and Director of the Center for Global Change and Earth Observation (CGCEO) at MSU, and Mr. He Shan, Director of Beijing Office of OCP met with Professor Li Xiaojuan, Vice President of CNU, Professor Wang Tao, Vice Dean of the College of Geospatial Information Science and Technology of the CNU, and Professor Zhang Aiwu.


Professor Li Xiaojuan welcomed Professor Qi, and gave a detailed introduction to CNU and their international exchange and cooperation programs. Professor Li Xiaojuan noted how well known MSU is, and complimented its rich history. She hoped that the two universities would be able to collaborate and  carry out in-depth cooperation for mutual benefit. She mentioned that the Asian Hub would be a perfect platform for future international cooperation.

Professor Qi Jiaguo expressed his appreciation for the past cooperation between the two universities. He gave a detailed introduction to CGCEO at MSU. He shared with CNU colleagues issues and projects related to the development of the Asian Hub. The members of the meeting agreed on the name of the new research and education initiative between MSU and CNU: Asian Hub of Geography Science and Education.

The promotion of this cooperation has far-reaching significance for the international exchanges between the two universities and the promotion of education innovation.
