2008 Development Grant |

We are now accepting applications for the 2008 Development Grant. Applications must be received by March 28, 2008.
Decisions will be announced on April 20, 2008 and applicants will be notified via e-mail. The grant funds must be used by December 31, 2008 and a trip report must be submitted with the travel voucher.
Purpose of the Grant The competitive grant program is intended to support selected MSU faculty members for travel to and from China to develop new exchange and cooperative programs with potential strategic partners. Specifically, the grant recipient must work to develop and promote collaboration in the areas of teaching, research and engagement.
This grant must be used to support one or more of the following activities in China:
· develop new joint research programs; · develop new joint education programs; · facilitate technology transfer and commercialization of MSU and Michigan patents or licenses; · promote economic development and cooperation between China and the State of Michigan
Faculty in all the colleges and departments are eligible to apply.
Proposal Submission The proposal should include the following information:
1. a cover sheet with contact information, including an e-mail address 2. the proposed activities and purposes; 3. the expected outcome of these activities; 4. the applicant's history of engagement with Chinese partners; 5. a written endorsement from the applicant's dean or department chairperson, and a minimum of 20% matching funds from the applicant's college or department; 6. a proposed budget.
This grant will not support faculty attendance at conferences, seminars, or workshops in China. Also, the grant will not support graduate student research work in China.
Once travel is completed, a trip report must be submitted to the Office of China Programs with the travel voucher.
